Furniture Budgets

Maintenance: Furniture budgets November 2015
The last time we calculated the furniture budgets was in 2009/10…

They should be updated each year, so that we know how much can be spent on certain items when there’s an entitlement.
Based on the 2009/10 figures above, the current furniture budget levels have been calculated. This has been done using the inflation figure for each respective year in between, with the figures rounded up to the nearest £ each year.
The entitlements have remained the same.
YEAR Inflation Dining table Dining chair Blind/ Curtains Armchair Settee Cooker Fridge/ freezer Futon
2009/10 – 78 18 101 72 201 745 517 224
2010/11 3% 81 19 105 75 208 768 533 231
2011/12 4.6% 85 20 110 79 218 804 558 242
2012/13 5% 90 21 116 83 229 845 586 255
2013/14 2.8% 93 22 120 86 236 869 603 263
2014/15 3% 96 23 124 89 244 896 622 271
2015/16 1.012% 97 24 126 90 247 906 629 274

It may be that the Co-op wants to consider changing the budgets (e.g. setting them higher, to realistically reflect how much things cost, and/or changing the entitlements). But for the time being it would make sense to at least increase the amounts in line with annual inflation, until otherwise decided (i.e. use the figures in the table above).
This would mean that, for example, a ten-person house that is entitled to a settee could spend up to £247 on a new one (rather than £201 as was agreed in 2009).
