Policy
The Policy
This is a draft policy
To be given administrator access to any co-op computers you must be approved by a co-op general meeting either as a computer co-ordinator or a member of the computer group. They must also have signed the confidentiality agreement used for committee members.
The staff have access to the admin passwords. If they need work done quickly and none of the authorised people are available then they may login using the passwords and supervise someone else doing administration for them. However the person doing the administration would not be given the passwords at that point.
Information to help with implementing the policy
Note this information may become out of date, so should not be mandated, but may be helpful in describing current normal practice.
The co-op computers currently include:
- the office computers
- the server that hosts the ASH Co-op website, email and offsite backup.
The reason why it is important to have some process here is that anyone with the administrator passwords has access to all the files stored on the computer, including anything to do with welfare that is saved on the computers. Also the office computers and email system really need to be kept in good working order for the staff to be able to do their work.
